Law 2 - The Ball

Shape
The ball shall be round.
Construction
Made of leather or other approved material - nothing which would be dangerous to the players
Circumference
Not more than 28 inches (71cm) nor less than 27 inches (68cm)
Weight
Not more than 16oz (453 grams) nor less than 14 oz (396 grams) at the start of the game
Pressure
Shall be equal to 8.5 lbs/inch2 (600 grams/cm2) - 15.6 lbs/inch2 (1100 grams/cm2)

Did you know?

If the ball bursts during a match, the game is restarted by dropping the replacement ball at the place where the first ball burst. If, however, the ball bursts in the goal area, it is dropped on the line which forms the boundary of the goal area - six yards from the goal line.
