Laws of the Game

Laws 7-10 (the ball in play)

Law 9 - The ball in and out of play

The ball is out of play when:

it wholly crosses the touch line or the goal line whether on the ground or in the air
when play has been stopped by the referee.

The ball is in play at all other times including when it rebounds from a goal post, crossbar or corner flag post and remains within the field of play.

Did you know?

Play should continue if the ball strikes the referee.
